Hello and welcome! Deciding to talk to someone can sometimes feel overwhelming and uncomfortable, but it can also be a significant step toward your healing. Just by coming to this page, you have already taken a major step. When you are ready to take another step, I want you to know that my hopes for each client are to feel heard, to strengthen their voice, to feel worthy, and to realize that healing is possible.
Talking to a stranger can be challenging for many people, so here is some information about me: In addition to my Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) certification, I am also nationally board certified (NBCC) and have 14 years of experience in the public school system, including 8 years as a teacher and 6 years as a school guidance counselor, primarily working with middle school and junior high students. If you are a teenager or are concerned about one, I would be honored to speak with you. Mookie, the adorable Golden Retriever in my picture, is a certified therapy dog. I strongly believe in the therapeutic benefits of pets as significant coping mechanisms!
I have also walked with individuals of all ages on their grief journeys, whether stemming from the death of a loved one, a divorce, or any significant life transition. Again, it would be my honor to meet you where you are in your grief journey.
In 2021, I was honored as the Missouri School Counselor of the Year in our region. In 2020, I was chosen for a special task force in Missouri named the Social-Emotional Crisis Task Force (SECT), aimed at combating trauma and anxiety in children and teenagers. I adopt Dr. Alan Wolfelt's approach of "companioning" individuals through their grief journeys, and I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with clients.
I am a caring and genuine person. If you are ready to share your story with me, I will do my utmost to ensure you feel heard and worthy, to strengthen your voice, and to facilitate your healing. You will play a significant role in your healing process, so I look forward to understanding the goals you have set for yourself so that we can collaborate towards achieving them!
