Mike Barclay, LPC, NCC

Over the past 13 years, I have worked primarily with teenagers and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, school pressures, family stress, and the everyday challenges that can feel heavy or overwhelming. Many of the individuals I work with feel stuck, stressed, or unsure of how to manage what’s coming at them. My goal is to help clients feel supported, understood, and more confident in their ability to move forward.

My therapeutic approach is strength-based and grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy, while remaining eclectic and flexible to meet each client where they are. I believe therapy works best when it is collaborative and conversational—not rigid or one-size-fits-all. Together, we focus on identifying strengths, building practical coping skills, and developing healthier ways of thinking, feeling, and responding to life’s challenges.

At the heart of my work is the belief that meaningful change happens within a space built on genuine trust, safety, and connection. I strive to create an environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves and know they don’t have to face things alone. Together, we can work toward growth, resilience, and a sense of success that feels authentic and sustainable.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Missouri and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board for Certified Counselors. I earned my Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Lindenwood University. I began my career working in residential and outpatient settings with teens and young adults, and for the past eight years, I have served as a crisis counselor (Educational Support Counselor) in a middle school. This experience has shaped my understanding of the unique challenges young people face and informs the practical, compassionate approach I bring to my work today.
